On September 12, 2025, the Black Women’s Leadership Collective (BWLC) convened its inaugural North Carolina cohort at the Westin at the RDU Airport for a reception and training that brought together some of the most dynamic voices in politics.
The evening featured a moderated panel led by Holli Holiday of Sisters Lead Sisters Vote with Glynda Carr of Higher Heights, North Carolina State Senators Natalie Murdock and Kandie Smith, and former Court of Appeals Judge Carolyn Thompson. Bishop Leah Daughtry also addressed the group, while North Carolina Chapter Lead Bajeyah Eaddy emceed the program and kept the energy moving throughout the night.
According to its website, BWLC “is an organizing hub for national Black women’s organizations, advocates, and supporters, utilizing the power of our collective efforts to make sure our voices are heard in the halls of power, at the ballot box, and in our communities.”
That mission was evident in Raleigh. The Collective’s leadership roster reads like a who’s who of Black women power brokers: Bishop Leah Daughtry, Donna Brazile, Glynda Carr, Holli Holiday, Minyon Moore, Melanie Campbell, Rachel Noerdlinger, and others whose influence stretches from grassroots organizing to the highest levels of national politics.
In North Carolina, the work is being led by Bajeyah Eaddy, the newly announced State Chapter Lead. Eaddy and her team are actively recruiting county captains for BWLC’s ambitious 100 County Organizing Program.
County Captains will be equipped with the tools to host community events, engage in voter outreach, and facilitate workshops designed to empower residents with knowledge and resources. The goal: to build collective power in every corner of North Carolina and ensure that the voices of Black women—and their communities—resonate far beyond county lines.
